يتولى قيادة فريق استشارات الوصول الرقمي بمؤسسة أوبن إنكلوجن Open Inclusions، حيث تعتمد عليه مؤسسات عديدة حول العالم في تزويدها بالأبحاث والحلول حول الوصول والنفاذ الرقمي. وهو رائد فكري في عملية الإدماج والشمول، حيث يتمتع بخبرة تزيد عن 17 عامًا في مساعدة فرق الإنتاج الرقمي على اكتساب الكفاءة والثقة والفعالية في توفير إمكانية الوصول، فضلا عن تعريفهم بأفضل الممارسات في المؤتمرات الدولية. وهو المؤلّف الرئيسي لـ BS 8878 ومعايير الجودة ISO 130071-1 المقبلة وهي مجموعة المعايير الدولية التي تهدف إلى تضمين عنصر “إمكانية الوصول” في مختلف العمليات والإجراءات الروتينية اليومية المعتادة لمؤسسات الأعمال. وهو الرئيس السابق لقسم قابلية الاستخدام وقابلية النفاذ Usability & Accessibility في مؤسسة بي بي سي فيوتشار ميديا؛ حيث جمع بين ضوابط واجراءات قابلية الاستخدام وإمكانية الوصول لدعم التصاميم التي تركز على المستخدم عبر الويب والجوال وتلفزيونات الآي بي الذكية. فاز بجوائز في مجال إدارة مشاريع الابداع في إمكانية الوصول بما في ذلك: أداة الطابع الشخصي MyDisplay ، وميزات الوصول في BBC iPlayer ، وموقع معلومات الوصول ماي ويب ماي واي My Web, My Way.

Prof. Hassell leads Open Inclusions’ digital accessibility consultancy team, providing accessibility research and solutions to organisations globally. He is a thought leader in inclusion, with over 17 years experience of helping digital production teams become competent, confident and efficient in delivering accessibility, and sharing best practice at international conferences. He is the lead author of BS 8878 and the forthcoming ISO 130071-1 – the international Standards on embedding accessibility within organisations’ business-as-usual processes. He is the Former Head of Usability & Accessibility, BBC Future Media where he combined usability and accessibility disciplines to support user-centred-design across web, mobile and IPTV. He has won awards for managing accessibility innovation projects including: the personalisation tool MyDisplay, the accessibility features of BBC iPlayer, and the accessibility information site My Web, My Way.
